About Michelle Bova
Michelle Bova is a professional director, videographer and photographer with a passion for creativity and the creation of beautiful memories.
Eager to gain experience and obtain a ‘behind the scenes perspective’ of both artwork and events, Michelle opted to study videography and photography before beginning to gain practical experience in 2005.
Drawn to the storytelling aspect of video, this medium has always been an interest of Michelle’s – even since childhood. It’s this ability to tell stories and preserve special memories that drive her to continue down this chosen career path.
In 2010, Michelle turned her dream into a reality by creating Funeral Video Australia. Her business premise was simple: she wanted to provide families with access to professional videographers and photographers, who could record, manage and create videos and photos that honoured their loved ones. The idea was to help capture lasting memories that told a story and could be passed on to future generations – keeping those important memories alive. Over the years, Michelle has found that it’s the work on capturing video and photography at memorial services – that she finds particularly rewarding.
And what is Michelle’s future vision for Funeral Video Australia? Her dream is to see the company continue to grow by building a team of dedicated and talented creatives, including photographers and videographers Australia wide. She also wants families to think more about creating their own ‘family time capsules’ that can be passed on to future generations.
Memories are precious; in the future, many of us want to relive moments spent with the people we love most. In the end, memories are all we have – so it’s important to capture the ones that matter most.
Should you hire a funeral videographer or photographer?
It’s a question many will ask when a loved one passes away. While there is much to process during the period after a close friend or family member passes, there is also much to organise.
When organising a memorial service for your loved one, you may wish to consider hiring a photographer or videographer to record moments of the service – providing you with lasting memories that truly honour the deceased. Professional photographers and videographers can cover as much or as little of the service as you wish, whether you simply want a few beautiful photos of the family together or a complete recording that covers the viewing, service, burial and wake.
While funerals are undoubtedly a sad time, they do bring together friends and family who may not have seen each other for many years. It is for this reason that many people opt to hire a photographer; it’s a way to celebrate your loved one’s life, but also the relationships you share with others close to you. Often, photos and video recordings are captured for those who regrettably can’t attend; it’s a thoughtful way to share these special memories.

I have just viewed, and so beautifully filmed. This is so special to have, not only for us but for a great many family members unable to attend, from Europe and Ireland. I was impressed by your complete professionalism and caring nature.Ann, Wentworth Falls
