Recording a service or memorial

Some families like to record the service and eulogies to keep as a memory and add to their family library.  Others wish to record the service for family and friends who cannot make it to the service and those who live overseas.

There is more to recording a service than just having someone pick up a camera and pressing ‘record’.  Here are some useful tips
  • Always have a tripod available for stable, still and panning shots.
  • Set up the tripod in an area you will be able to see and hear the service without blocking other’s view.
  • Capture the atmosphere by recording the setting, perhaps shots of flowers or candles
  • Be aware of the service’s running order, to capture special moments as they arise.
  • Be conscious of grieving family and friends and those who may wish to grieve privately.
  • Test your microphone recording capability before the service.
When you have recorded your service you will need to transfer to a format that you can use for editing.
